It is a great thing to look back and see the growth that has occurred through time.
The following are past creations that are remaining either physically or by salvaged photographs. Many pieces I have to assume were destroyed as I was unable to retrieve them or documentation along with my personal items in the wake of my marriage and divorce.
Myth of a Grecian Urn - Oil on Canvas
Status: Sold
Limited Editions - Sold Out
This piece was created for my first solo art show in Minneapolis, MN in 1995.
Forgiveness - Oil on Canvas
Status: Damaged - Held by Artist
This piece was also created for my first solo art show in Minneapolis, MN in 1995. It was about forgiving oneself. The woman is stepping into water as to symbolize a baptism and renewal.
Given its size, I carefully removed the painting from the stretcher bars and rolled it to prevent damage during my move. I placed it in a back corner in our master bedroom. Later, I found it folded underneath a pile law books placed upon it by my former husband, giving the title new meaning.
In the Garden - Oil on Canvas
Status: Sold
Limited Editions - Sold Out
I created this painting the Summer before I moved to Chicago. After some soul-searching, I decided to go into a creative field and leave pre-med/physical therapy studies behind, attending Columbia College, Chicago. For me, this painting symbolizes that turning point.
Strength - Oil on Canvas
Status: Lost
After high school, I enrolled in pre-med/physical therapy studies at the University of North Dakota. While there, I kept creating. Unfortunately, I only have two photos of my many creations from that time including the one below.
Embrace - Oil on Canvas
Status: Lost
The High School Years
I have always loved to create. In high school my schedule was heavy with math and science coursework. I chose art as one of the electives I had available.
It was during this time I found the foundation for my future creations, never fathoming that one day I would put my math and science studies to the side and become an artist.
Faces - Oil on Canvas Board
Status: Sold
While I didn't sell this piece until I was in college, it was my first sale!
The Wedding Dress - Pencil on Paper
Status: Held by Artist
During an art show my Senior year, I was approached by a woman that wanted to purchase this drawing. My Grandmother loved the piece, so I declined the sale and gave it as a gift to my grandma. After her passing, it was returned to me.
Denim - Colored Pencil on Paper
Status: Lost
During the same art show my Senior year, this piece was also displayed. It was later removed from the exhibit as it was deemed "inappropriate and too suggestive." My, how times have changed.
Shoe Fetish - Colored Pencil on Paper
Status: Lost
I have always loved fashion and shoes!
The Dancer - Colored Pencil on Paper
Status: Lost
Girls on the Beach - Oil on Canvas
Status: A gift to my mom after completion.
This was my first oil painting. I look at it and see innocence and beauty in the imperfect. My skills at the beginning of a giant learning curve. This was really the starting place.
